A Festival of Traditional and Historical Entertainments - In the Perfect Setting
Richmond MayFest takes place every early May Bank Holiday with loads of great music, dancing and storytelling in and around Richmond Castle and Richmond town centre.
Many events are totally free!
And, as a community festival, local residents get a discount on all ticketed events, as well as free admission to Richmond Castle on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and Richmondshire Museum on Saturday and Sunday.

In 2024, highlights include:
MayFest Fair at Richmond Castle on Saturday, Sunday and Monday: music, dancing, storytelling, craft stalls, traditional games, circus fun, food and drink… Free admission for DL9, DL10 and DL11 residents!
MayFest Parade on Monday morning - come and join the fun! Plus you can make a parade mask or decoration at our art drop-ins at Richmondshire Museum (free for DL9, DL10 and DL11 residents) on Saturday and Sunday
Two dances at the Town Hall! Friday night is Retro Night, with live 50s and 60s music and Sunday night is the MayFest Ceilidh! 50% discount for DL9, DL10 and DL11 residents. Tickets on sale here.
Two Saturday concerts - world folk sounds from Bisarr at St Agatha’s and glorious choral sounds from Richmondshire Choral Society at St Mary’s. Discounts for DL9, DL10 and DL11 residents. Tickets on sale here.
Lots of workshops and have-a-go opportunities including drum circles, clog dancing and more…
