At the Castle

Locals - don’t forget that DL9, DL10 and DL11 residents get free admission to Richmond Castle all weekend - just bring proof of address.

    Medieval music from Trouvere, three brilliant northern storytellers, plus a bit of crazy Robin Hood foolery from RADS! It’s all happening at the Castle… (and don’t forget the Duck Race too!)

  • Market & Fair

    All the fun of the fair on the Castle green, with craft stalls, traditional games, face painting, market stalls, and food and drink from Granny’s Kitchen and the MayFest Tavern.

  • Living History

    Step back to medieval times in Richmond’s own medieval castle with Durham-based living history group Dawn of Chivalry - generously sponsored by Yorkshire Country Holidays.

  • The MayFest Parade

    Come and join in the MayFest Parade - starting from the Town Hall at 11am and making our way around the Market Place to the Castle, led by the .mazing Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band. Our theme is May Time and Robin Hood - costumes welcome! Assemble at the Town Hall from 10.30am and be entertained by The Ovinos Samba Carnival Band!

    The ever popular Punch & Judy… and raucous nonsense from the ridiculous Silly History Boys … plus cracking sounds from the Ran Tanners should keep the Market Place buzzing on MayFest Monday!

  • MayFest Women Aloud!

    An afternoon for women at the Catholic Church Hall - Drum Circle, dancing, sharing food, and bringing different communities together. Feel free to bring your youngsters! Free 🙂
